Alzheimer's Society is the UK’s leading support and research charity for people with dementia, their families and carers. Dementia affects over 800,000 people in the UK.

They provide information and support to people with any form of dementia and their carers through publications, their website, and the National Dementia Helpline. They operate more than 2,000 local services throughout England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Carer Information and Support Programme (CrISP)

The Carer Information and Support Programme (often referred to as CrISP) provides support and up-to-date, relevant information in a group environment, where carers can share experiences and find out about local and national services that can offer support.

The Carer Information and Support Programme involves a series of 4 sessions which aim to support family members and friends who care for a person living with dementia. The programme aims to improve the knowledge, skills and understanding of people caring for a person with dementia, by providing up-to-date and relevant information.

These sessions provide the opportunity for you to talk in a friendly and confidential environment with others about your experiences and the impact they are having on you. Each session involves a combination of presentations from staff, group discussions and activities. There is also a large collection of written resources available at each session for you to take away.

This project is being delivered in Belgrave, Thurncourt, Evington, Spinney Hills and Wycliffe.

Singing for the Brain

Singing for the Brain provides a facilitated structured group session for people with dementia who may wish to attend independently or with a carer. The service is designed around the principles of music therapy.

Singing for the Brain sessions are planned to incorporate social interaction, peer support, engagement and active participation. The service is specifically designed to help people with dementia to feel part of society where they have a right to artistic and social stimulation.

This project is being delivered in Belgrave, Thurncourt, Evington, Spinney Hills and Wycliffe.
