Leicester Ageing Together is not just about encouraging older people to get involved with their communities, it is also about communities getting involved. 

From helping with gardening or improving someone’s home, to simply offering support and friendship, there are many ways you can make a difference.

Task Force Handyperson

Papworth Trust deliver a ‘task force’ to older people with disabilities within Leicester City to bring people’s homes up to a good standard of maintenance.

Location: Leicester City 

Hours: Flexible to suit volunteer, individual tasks may take 2-5 days

Expenses: Agreed in advance, expenses reimbursed.

Community Researcher

We are building a team of Community Researchers, to help evaluate how LAT projects are working to reach older isolated people in Leicester.

No research or evaluation experience is needed as training will be provided. We would like older people (aged 50+years) as volunteers for this role.

Information Volunteer

Action on Hearing Loss is looking for a volunteer to help with their Peer to Peer Information and Support Project. You will be required to provide information on deafness, hearing loss and tinnitus to deaf and hard of hearing people, community groups and professionals.

Age UK’s city Befriending and Mentoring project relies on dedicated volunteers to visit older people in their homes.  If you enjoy chatting and listening to people and feel passionate about helping an older person feel less lonely then get in touch.
