Health and fitness suggestions to keep you active!

Different people engage in different forms and different levels of activities. Being active is important for both our physical and mental health. Small changes in levels of activity can make a big difference. Just ten minutes of physical activity has been shown to be beneficial for mental wellbeing.

There are plenty of things that you can do from aerobics to yoga as an online workouts and everything in between. Anything that makes you slightly breathless is of benefit so you could clean the house or car or wash the windows - it all counts!

Try HotPod Yoga – Free online sessions from a local teacher.

A new home workout video by our firefighters, to help you stay fit and healthy while you are at home Leicestershire Fire & RescueService.

Dance Lessons online – Argentine Tango for you to learn and practice, first lesson is FREE. 

Learn to dance with Oti – fun, informal dance lessons with the Strictly Come Dancing star. 

Daily Seniors’ Workouts – 10 minute sessions with Joe Wicks to get your heartbeat raised and your joints moving.  

Basic Ballet from the Royal Academy of Dance- designed to get the older generation moving at home, a new one every Wednesday.

Keep physically active- if you are not able to walk or go in the garden, there are lots of opportunities to join. 10 min audio clips of exercise specifically for older people.

Blindalive - a wide range free downloads of exercise/fitness programmes to stretch, strengthen, condition, and tone your body, all without the benefit of eyesight. Programs are described with audio and text material. 

Later Life Training – a selection of home workouts that focus on circulation boosting to help lubricate those stiff joints and mobilisation of the neck, spine, lower back and ankles.

RVS’sVirtual Village Halla programme of themed online sessions. Activities have been designed for people to do at home! available to access 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and feature both live and pre-recorded activities to join in with. Timetable for all upcoming new activities on the website. There are also downloadable guides to print off and post to family members who may not have access to the internet.

Join up for a weekly Stroll/Line Dancing night. Dance together the ones you know and learn some new dances and just have a bit of fun,  Non partner dances. £3 per session.
